How to Plan Your 2027 Cricket World Cup Trip
Updated 3 October 2026
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 will bring 14 teams to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with matches at 12 venues. Now that the official schedule is out, it's a good time to start planning your Cricket World Cup trip.
Whether you want to follow your favourite team, catch two or three matches, or add a Southern African holiday to your plans, a little planning can help you get more out of the trip.
1. Choose Your Matches
Start with the official Cricket World Cup 2027 fixtures and pick the matches you'd most like to see. Games will take place in major cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg, Tshwane, Durban and Gqeberha, as well as venues in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
You don't need to attend the whole tournament. A few matches will leave you time to enjoy the places you're visiting between games.
2. Choose Your Base
Think about where you'd like to stay and how many matches you want to see.
If several of your chosen matches are in the same region, staying in one city can cut down on travel time and hotel changes. Cape Town, Johannesburg and the other host cities have plenty to see and do on days without a match.
Take a look at our Cricket World Cup 2027 Host Cities & Venues guide when planning your route.
If your plans take you across countries, leave enough time for flights, transfers and border requirements.
3. Plan Your Transport
Distances across Southern Africa can be long, so build transport into your plans.
Domestic flights are handy for longer trips, and hiring a car gives you more freedom to explore. Check how far your accommodation is from the stadium and leave extra time on match days.
Leave some room in your itinerary to change plans, rather than scheduling every day too tightly. The SA27 Travel Guide can help you with transport and other practical travel information.
4. Don't Forget the Holiday
Your Cricket World Cup trip can include plenty beyond the matches.
Depending on your route, you could go on safari, visit the Kruger National Park, explore the Cape Winelands, take in the Garden Route, or spend time discovering South Africa's cities, beaches and food.
If you're travelling from overseas, a few extra days before or after your matches can turn the trip into a memorable Southern African holiday.
5. Start Planning Tickets and Accommodation
The ICC ticket ballot opened on 1 October 2026, giving fans the chance to register for tickets to matches in all three host countries. Entry to the ballot is free, but entering doesn't guarantee tickets. Visit the official ICC website for the latest ticket information.
Once you've picked your preferred matches, start looking at accommodation and transport for those dates.
